Weekend Happenings: Chalk, Strawberries and a 5K

A few things to do near home this weekend.

Strawberry Fair

The Details: Celebrate the coming of summer with a fair devoted to summer's favorite fruit. Strawberry sundaes and shortcake will be on hand as will hot dogs and other snacks. Enjoy the treats while shopping for books, jewelry, garden goodies and more.

When/Where: Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church, Wayland (5 Damon St, Wayland)

Cost: Free

The Details: Break out the sidewalk chalk and head to the Goward Playground near the Acton Memorial Library (86 Main St, Acton). You can help create a giant chalk mosaic on the basketball court. Summer treats will be served.

When/Where: Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Goward Playground, near Acton Memorial Library (86 Main St, Acton)

Cost: Free

Lincoln-Sudbury Schools for Africa Babysitting Night

The Details: Leave the kids in the care of some Lincoln-Sudbury students and enjoy a night on the town. How often do your babysitting payments go to support a good cause (besides your babysitter's bank account, of course).

When/Where: Friday from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School (390 Lincoln Rd, Sudbury)

Cost: $20/child; $30/family (if you didn't RSVP by Thursday).

5K Susan McDaniel Run for Lovelane

The Details: The annual run supports the core therapeutic program at Lovelane. A kids' run, "Diaper Dash" for toddlers, and the 5K are all part of the festivities.

When/Where: Saturday at 10 a.m. at Weston Town Hall (11 Townhouse Rd, Weston)

Cost: $5 (register at www.lovelane.org.)
