Five Things You Need to Know Today: Oct. 20

Financial planning for college, lots of meetings and a less rainy day in store.

1. The school year just started and we're talking about next school year. Alas, such is the college application process. Tonight there will be a discussion for parents and students about college financing.

2. Several meetings are on tap for today, including a Public Safety Building Advisory Committee meeting this morning at 8 a.m. For other meetings scheduled today, check out the Events section.

3. Speaking of the Events section, did you know that you can search for events well in advance of the date? Just go to the Events section of the site, and hover over the tab marked "Date" under the "Find Events by" heading. It's easy and could help you plan a bit in advance.

4.The SHINE Program will be at the Council on Aging today at 9 a.m. to answer questions related to medical insurance and prescription coverage.

5. Weather: Better. That's all. Just kidding. Fox25 News is forecasting highs in the upper-60s and partly cloudy for your Thursday.
