Getting involved and "phoning home."

1. Going Green. The at the Claypit Hill compost bins. The location of the meeting reflects the theme: "Hands On Composting in Action." Newcomers are always welcome at Green Team meetings.

2. Catching Up with Friends. COA Connections, a get together organized by sponsored by Wayland resident Irma Bloom, is for newcomers and longtime residents alike. Meet with friends, old and new, and talk about a variety of topics.

3. Get Informed. The Board of Selectmen and Board of Health are among the groups meeting tonight. Check out the Events section for more on these two meetings (or any number of other events in Wayland).

5. "Phone home." Today marks the 30th anniversary of "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial." The Steven Spielberg flick was released on June 11, 1982. While we may not think of it as film festival material now, the first showing of "E.T." took place on the final night of the famous Cannes Film Festival. While it's probably dropped a bit now, as of 2008 "E.T." ranked as the fifth highest- grossing film of all time.
