People in Wayland and the larger Boston area felt the ground shake as a result of a 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Maine.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, at 7:12 p.m. this evening a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck, centered a few miles south-southwest of Lake Arrowhead, Maine.
The effect of the quake was felt as far south as Massachusetts. Reports on Twitter are showing many people in the area felt the earth shake.
On the Wayland Patch page on Faceebook, several residents have said they felt the shake.
"Felt it," posted Anastasia Foufas-Chausse. "Bed making small circles and a clacking noise where it was hitting the nightstand."
Jill Golden Zukerman added, "My house definitely shuddered!"
And on Orchard Lane, according to Kevin Swope, "I felt it, but since we're in a one-floor slab ranch nothing rattled. Definitely heard it, too!"
