5 Things: Tax Hearing, Toy Drives and A Deadline from Santa

Just a few things you need to know in Wayland on Dec. 10, 2012.

1.Meeting Monday. The list of meetings is long for today. In particular, the Board of Selectmen will be talking tax classification and tax recap tonight. Board of Health, Finance Committee, Historical Commission and several other groups meet as well. Full details here.

2. Toy Drives. There are a couple of options to provide toys to needy children this holiday season. The Toys for Tots drive will continue through Dec. 17 with drop-offs at the Public Safety Building and Wayland Town Building. Additionally, the Cochituate Breakfast Club will collect at various locations around town for Action Boston Community Development through Dec. 19.

3. Deck the House ... Win Money! Our Deck the House contest could be your ticked to winning $100,000 for Wayland Public Schools and up to $500 for your own December electric bill. If you have a stellar holiday display, snap a pic and upload to our contest page. It's that easy to win.

4. Civic Services. The Town of Wayland maintains a list of vacancies on town boards and committees and there are few spots open now. If you've ever thought about getting involved in serving, why not make it your New Year's resolution and check out where your skills can best be used.

5. Santa Deadline. Today is the last day for your child to receive a letter from Santa complete with a North Pole postmark. Parents, you have until this afternoon to write a letter to your child from Santa and drop it off at the post office. It will be mailed back to your child, from "Santa" with the special postmark.
