Wayland Town Center officially welcomes the public today with the opening of its first retail location; consequently, new traffic restrictions go into effect.

1. Grand Opening. The party was last night, but the serious shopping begins today as Wayland's Stop & Shop opens its doors to customers at 6 a.m. Are you planning to visit today?

2. Traffic Changes. With the opening of Wayland Town Center to business, new traffic restrictions go into effect. Check out the new rules that are designed to protect nearby residents from cut-through traffic related to the new shopping destination.

3. School Supply Drive. Wayland resident Nancy Wind is collecting school supplies to donate to Hurricane Sandy victims on Long Island. We'll have more details today at 11:30 a.m., but go ahead and start shopping for your school supply donations now. And check back at 11:30 a.m. for the full details.

4. Cover Photo Contest. We already have some beautiful entries in our Facebook Cover Photo Contest, but that doesn't mean we don't want to see a few more. You have until noon today to upload your entry ... if readers vote for your photo, you'll win a $50 gift card.

5. National Adoption Day. Tomorrow, Nov. 17, is National Adoption Day. According to holidayinsights.com, the day was created "to finalize thousands of annual adoptions, and to celebrate and give recognition to families that adopt children. It is also intended to raise awareness of the tens of thousands of children awaiting adoption." If you have adopted a child, are in the process of doing so or are even considering it, today is a day that celebrates your efforts.
