5 Things: Moving Beyond Election Day, A Meeting Canceled and More

Yesterday was all about elections, but today is all about getting back to normal.

1. Post Election. The Wayland Town Building gymnasium will reopen this afternoon after having been closed to set up, host and tear down a polling location.

2. Bake Sale Success. The seventh graders at Wayland Middle Schools sold baked goods as a fundraiser for their Thanksgiving community service project. When Patch stopped by at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the students had all but sold out and were excited by the dollars raised.

3. Meetings Return. After a meeting free day on Tuesday, the meeting schedule is full today with the 375th Anniversary Committee, Public Ceremonies Committee and several others meet today. One particular note, the Board of Health meeting scheduled for today has been canceled. For details, check out the calendar on the Town of Wayland website.

4. Facebook battle is on! Wayland Patch and Weston Patch are in a battle leading up to the annual Thanksgiving Day game. Instead of football, we're battling for friends. Help Wayland Patch beat Weston Patch in the Facebook friends battle by "liking" the Wayland Patch page on Facebook.

5. Remarkable 21 Years. On this date in 1991, basketball great Magic Johnson announced that he is HIV positive. Since his sudden retirement from the NBA when he made this announcement, Johnson has been an outspoken advocate for AIDS awareness and a successful businessman.
