Whole Foods Wayland Responds to Recent Recalls

Some Whole Foods locations in six states, including Massachusetts, have recalled 24 oz. cans of soup that were incorrectly labeled as Roasted Garlic and Eggplant variety, but were actually Lobster Bisque. The soup mix-up could cause serious or life-threatening reactions to those allergic to shellfish or milk, according to the FDA.

Katie Lamie, spokeswoman for Whole Foods Wayland, said the mislabeled soups were not sold in the Wayland store.

Another recent recall, however, related to products produced by Sunland, Inc., has led to posted signs in Wayland's Whole Foods location for several peanut butter and almond butter products. Lamie stressed that Whole Foods Market’s 365 Everyday Value brand products, including its peanut butter, were not affected. She issued the statement below:

New Mexico-based Sunland, Inc. has issued recalls of several of its peanut butter and almond butter products due to possible salmonella contamination. Several manufacturers have recalled products containing nut butters from Sunland. To inform shoppers, we are placing signage in our stores of the salmonella issue for products that have been recalled. Whole Foods Market will continue to follow the FDA’s ongoing investigation and will monitor the situation as it unfolds.

Whole Foods is maintaining its own company-wide list related to the nut recall. The list changes periodically, but the current update is below:
