Wayland Town Center Project Takes A Turn

Developers are aiming to have office space in the Town Center project.

Twenty Wayland LLC has withdrawn its request to amend a zoning bylaw that, if approved, would have allowed the developer to construct additional office space at the Wayland Town Center site, according to Town Planner Sarkis Sarkisian.

An Oct. 10 hearing had been scheduled on the zoning change request, but Sarkisian said that will not be held. Specifically, Twenty Wayland had requested changing the existing zoning bylaws to increase the maximum allowed office square footage for mixed-use projects to 52,000 square feet from 22,000 square feet. If approved, that would have allowed for the additional 30,000 square feet Twenty Wayland wanted in office space.

The withdrawal also means the issue won’t be taken up at the Nov. 20 Special Town Meeting, he said.

The moves comes after a proposed tenant, whom Sarkisian did not name, pulled out of the plans for office space at the site, Sarkisian said.
