Wayland Second Safest Town in Mass.
The Safewise.com list, released last week, highlighted Wayland's low crime rate and commitment to family living.
Wayland was ranked No. 2 on a recent list of the 50 safest communities in Massachusetts.

Sudbury earned the top spot on the list. Newton was ranked No. 38.
"Wayland is wonderful for young families," said the report. "That’s because this stable, progressive community not only offers award winning schools but also boundless activities, events and festivals."
Safewise.com reported the following statistics for Wayland:
- Violent crimes per 1,000 residents: .60
- Property crimes per 1,000 residents: 3.77
