A Health Club for Town Center and Other Updates

Been wondering about what health club is coming to Wayland Town Center? What about the status of the Wayland Town Green?

When the Facebook page and website for Body Zone Wayland disappeared, the questions started circulating regarding what health club would be coming to Wayland Town Center.

Mystery solved.

According to Town Planner Sarkis Sarkisian. Boston Sports Club is back on the tenant list. Late last year, it appeared that BSC would not be coming to Wayland, but Sarkisian said that has now changed.

A brochure available on KGI Properties website (and included with this article) indicates that a building located just northwest of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center offices will house a fitness facility. The building is shaded to indicate that a lease has been signed.

In addition to BSC being on the tenant list, Sarkisian said that men's clothing store Jos. A Bank will also be opening up shop at town center, a fact affirmed by the KGI Properties brochure.

In other Wayland Town Center news, Sarkisian said that the Planning Board will conduct a site plan hearing on Aug. 27 for 42 townhouses at the site. The new plan is more than a 50 percent reduction from the original plans to construct 85 townhouses at the site.

"This is by far so much better than the original plan," Sarkisian said. "It’s to scale. It’s just going to wrap the whole development, so we’re excited about that."

Some looming questions that remain include what Wayland wants to do with the municipal pad, which has been proposed as a site for a new library, senior center, town building or a combination of those things.

Additionally, Sarkisian said the developer will complete the contracted plantings and path construction at the town green, but questions of ownership and regulations for the green's use must be established before the plan for its construction can be fully implemented.
