UPDATE:
The cause of Tuesday morning's equipment trailer fire in Wayland remains under investigation, but early damage estimates put the number in the tens of thousands of dollars.

A Wayland Fire Department press release notes that the enclosed trailer destroyed in Tuesday's fire was apparently owned by a roofing company and contained "ladders, compressors and other expensive equipment."

Callers began reporting the fire in the parking lot at Especially for Pets at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday. By the time two fire crews and a supervisor arrived, the equipment trailer was fully involved, according to a press release.
No one was injured in the blaze.

ORIGINAL: The Wayland Fire Department does not yet know the cause of a fire that destroyed an equipment trailer Tuesday morning as it sat in the parking lot outside Especially for Pets.

According to Wayland Fire Chief Vinnie Smith, multiple 911 calls came in around 10:32 a.m. reporting a trailer fire at 44 Main St., the shopping center that houses Starbucks, Einstein Bros. and Fitness Together in addition to Especially for Pets.

Crews arrived and found the trailer "fully involved," Smith said. Water from fire truck tanks was used to extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and a damage estimate has not yet been finalized. No one was injured in the blaze and, apart from the trailer itself, there doesn't appear to be any other property damage.

Further details will be available shortly.
