What Does A Didgeridoo Sound Like?

Perhaps before we discuss what a didgeridoo sounds like, we should address what it is.

Lindsey Dank brought his colorful collection of the Aboriginal instruments -- didgeridoos -- to the Wayland Public Library Tuesday to the delight of appreciative kids and the curiosity of the accompanying caregivers.

Dank provided a brief Australian history lesson as well as some information about the unusual instrument made, Dank said, from eucalyptus trees hollowed out by termites.

But mostly, he played some tunes.

The long wooden tubes produce a wide range of tones, shaped by the size and length of the didgeridoo as well as the pressure and breath of the musician.

Take a listen to the instruments and keep in mind you're hearing an instrument that has been around for more than 1,000 years.
