Wayland High Grad Debuts in Netflix Series

Wayland High School alumna Taylor Schilling has quietly been making her mark on Hollywood throughout the past couple of years.

From roles in the television drama, "Mercy" to a turn as a lead actress opposite Zac Efron in "The Lucky One," Schilling, 28, has grown from her roots in Wayland and West Roxbury into an actress with an expanding resume.

Early this month, Schilling celebrated the release of her new Netflix series, “Orange Is the New Black,” according to the Boston Globe.

According to IMDB, Schilling plays Piper Chapman, a woman "sent to prison as a result of her relationship with a drug smuggler."

The Boston Globe reports that the series is based on a memoir by Piper Kerman, who spent time in jail for laundering drug money and is married, in real life, to Larry Smith, who is played by Jason Biggs of "American Pie" fame in the Netflix series.
