Where is Wile E. Coyote?

The hardworking Wile E. Coyote (as he is known) has gone missing from his post on Dudley Pond's Mansion Beach.

According to an email from Wayland Surface Water Quality Committee member Mike Lowery, the plastic coyote was discovered to be missing Thursday morning.

The coyote "scarecrow" took up residence at Mansion Beach in 2012 with the task of scaring away geese and birds that frequent the beach. Bird waste is a suspected as the primary cause of elevated bacteria levels that have closed Mansion Beach periodically in recent years.

"Either Wile E. has accepted another position at a larger pond based on his success at Mansion, or the plastic coyote pirates have shanghaied him," Lowery wrote.

If you've seen a stray plastic coyote around town, please return him to his Mansion Beach home.
