Wayland Ranked Top 10 Safest Community in Mass.
Wayland had only 58 crimes reported in 2012.
Wayland was ranked as one of the top 10 safest places in the state.
Movoto's list put Wayland at No. 9.
"Wayland had a total of just 58 crimes in 2012, just eight of which were violent," wrote Movoto, a real estate service..
Sudbury was ranked No. 1.
Movoto said it analyzed the FBI's crime statistics from 2012, only taking into consideration towns with populations greater than 10,000 residents. There were 168 cities and towns considered.
Criteria for the list included violent crimes (rape, murder and assault), property crime (theft, burglary and motor vehicle thefts), and the odds that residents will be the victim of a crime.
