Town Building Paving Update

The Wayland Town Building paving project will take place later this month.

The repaving project at Wayland Town Building was pushed back from its original July date, but is expected to take place later this month.

The plan was to begin the project July 18, but that date has now been pushed to Aug. 19. The project will involve both the front and back parking lots as well as the access roads from Pelham Island Road and Cochituate Road.

Wayland Highway Director Stephen Kadlik said the paving shouldn't be any more than a minor inconvenience. He emphasized that Wayland Town Building will remain fully accessible throughout the project, including the handicap ramps.

"There will be no interruptions to the service at town hall whatsoever," Kadlik said.

Kadlik said reclaiming will begin Monday, Aug. 19, a week that is expected to be relatively quiet in terms of after-hours meetings.

As much work as possible will be conducted at night, Kadlik said, adding that the paving itself should be done during the day so mistakes aren't missed in the darkness.

He expects "hot-top" to be put down by Friday, Aug. 23.

"The day of the paving, we'll have plenty of people there to guide everyone around," he said.

Local crews will then reinstall curbs and complete other finishing elements in the following days.

"You may be slightly -- I reiterate, slightly -- inconvenienced," Kadlik said, adding that he expects there to always be plenty of available parking at the town building. "You will never not be able to get to the town building."

The schedule is, of course, weather-permitting.
