Five-Century House Tour Coming to Wayland

You know Wayland as a quaint, modern town with all the conveniences (and headaches) of the 21st century.

But there are homes in Wayland that have seen much more primitive days, and on Sept. 21, you can catch a glimpse of what those homes have seen.

The Wayland 375th Anniversary Commemoration Committee has organized a five century home tour homing one home from each century since Wayland was founded (17th-21st).

You'll see everything from the antique to the modern as you visit homes built circa 1690 all the way through homes built within the past few years. The Grout-Heard House Museum will also be open.

The tour will convene at Wayland Town Center, at the new medical building and vans will transport participants to the five homes. Tickets are $25 now (Buy online) and $30 on the day of the tour.

Additionally, about 60 volunteers are needed to do everything from collect tickets to serving as docents. Volunteers can then take the tour for $15. Contact Kate Jenney at 508-358-7829 or send an email to kathleenjenney@aol.com for more information. You can also sign up online to volunteer and purchase your discounted ticket.
