5 Things: Scorching Continues, Theater Dazzles and Creatures Burrow

A few things you need to know in Wayland for July 19, 2013.

1. One... more... day... (or so). Looks like the heat is expected to break Saturday. Just get through another hot one Friday and look forward to some relief over the weekend.

2. If you're in need of a cool spot Friday, the Wayland Town Building is open until 12:30 p.m.

3. 'Tis the season of theater. There are an abundance of shows either playing in Wayland or featuring Wayland folks and playing nearby. Check out the Patch Events calendar for details.

4. More Digging Creatures at the Wayland Public Library – this time, in person. Creature Teachers will have a woodchuck, hedgehog, burrowing boa and more to show during the program for children 4 and up. It starts at 1:30 p.m.

5. Year of Wayland Trivia. On Oct, 20, 1973, President Richard Nixon fired special Watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox, a Wayland resident, in what became known as the Saturday Night Massacre.
