Town Building Paving, Extra Patrols, Wayland's Witch Trial Connection

A few things you need to know for Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, in Wayland.

1. Meetings Tuesday. The Recreation Commission and the Surface Water Quality Committee are scheduled to meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. Agendas. are available on the Town of Wayland website.

2. It's storyvine day at the Wayland Public Library. Stop by from 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. for stories geared to children ages 2.5 to 5 years.

3. Reminder: The Wayland Town Building parking lot will be paved this week. All offices will be open, but the COA canceled its programs.

4. ICYMI. The Wayland Police Department is stepping up patrols and efforts to stop drunk drivers thanks to a grant.

5. Year of Wayland Trivia. Rev. Samuel Parris was the minister of Salem Village, where the Salem Witchcraft scare started in his home in 1692. He later moved to Wayland and served as schoolmaster for a time.
