I'm excited to be asked to be a local voice for Wayland Patch ... while I seldom write letters to the editor, I often contribute news items and photos to various publications. My background includes a whole career (and degree) in journalism as a photographer, writer, sports writer and editor. Been there done all that.
I'm quite passionate about two things ... bike riding and the environment. These intersect in an obvious way ... when riding a bike -- even at 15-plus mph -- you see a lot of the environment you don't get to see from a fast moving car, and you cover a lot more ground than when slowly walking.
On one hand, riding the roads of Wayland is quite beautiful ... except when you run into litter tossed just on the roadside. Geez, you'd think jerks who toss stuff would at least try to hurl it way off the road so it's never seen again. Nope, they really just don't care where it goes.
And the stuff you find... unbelievable.
OK ... you get the idea what's coming in future posts.
I'm also ga-ga about Hannah Williams Park and Playground ... which I worked hard on 11 years ago with about 250 others in town to keep going and plan for a nice conversion to something better. Well, that day is here. I've got a lot of folks to thanks ... so that's coming too!
See more soon ...

Hi Cliff, I'm looking forward to your stories and viewpoints. And Hannah Williams is dear to so many of us, but not everyone knows the story of the park&playground! It would be great to hear it from someone who is so involved.
