Blog: Sen. Scott Brown Wins Debate

Harvard professor Elizabeth Warren attended her first debate against Sen. Scott Brown and revealed her true self to the people of Massachusetts.

It was evident that Democratic strategists had advised Warren to lower her voice during the debate as she uncharacteristically spoke in a measured whisper tone.  Warren’s ad campaign prior to the debate was completely revamped to remove most footage of her speaking as people responded so negatively to her customary shrill tone. Warren came across as flat and robotic, and her constant twitching head motions were hard to watch, as was her "deer in the headlights" expression anytime that Scott Brown spoke.

Sen. Brown was cool, calm and on his game. He will not raise our taxes and and is committed to work in a bipartisan way. Warren on the other hand reverted back to her talking points of: Big Oil; she's for the middle class; and somehow something is "rigged." I'm not sure what is rigged except maybe her getting paid over 300K for teaching one class. What’s fair about that?

Voters learned that Warren will not apologize for perpetuating the lie that she is Native American. When handed facts, the professor instead denied and changed the subject.

Sen. Brown had to explain his votes to Professor Warren in great detail because she had her research team try to create new narratives for each vote. Her use of high school debate tricks was to no avail since Scott Brown had commonsense answers.  Warren was clearly worried and it showed. Sen. Brown proved again what a bipartisan senator can accomplish when he votes for the best interest of his constituents instead of being an ideologue. Warren made it clear that she will be a puppet of the Democrats and their destructive ideas which continue to slow the economy. Warren tried linking herself to Obama, thinking that would help her approval rating. Well, Obama didn't have a good day today either.

Round one goes to Sen. Brown.

It was a slaughter. Lizzy's only real resources were platitudes, and slanders. And WHY did the debate host call Scott "MR." Brown? Isn't he Senator Brown? We'd never have THAT if Teddy K were debating.

Barbara you will have to accept defeat for Lizzy in November, without the kind of abject qualification your comment exudes. How one can want a 100% party-line voting senator as "the better candidate" when you ion the left do noting but criticize Republicans for non-cooperation is beyond me. Can you explain that?

Let's not forget Jon Keller was terrible...4 questions in an hour !!! All the hype and a terrible debate. Hated the political advertisements from Ms. Warren, just not necessary.

You must be kidding! Brown was snide and sneering throughout the debate. He was nasty belying his reputation for being a good guy. He used so many of the Republican talking points, that it was comical. He obviously signed the Grover Nordquist no-tax pledge. Claiming to be pro chice, he never owned up to Ma. Citizen's for Life endorsement. MCL said that he almost always voted it's way. In no way did he. Win the debate.

Important point: He WILL raise your taxes. He will allow the George W. Bush tax rates to expire for everybody which is exactly everyone reading this. There is not a snowball's chance in hell that democrats, with the momentum they have, will accept continued lower tax rates on the top earners. The 98% will be sacrified for the 2%.

At least he isn't falsely claiming to be an Indian to advance his career, or complaining about the high cost of education while collecting $300k for "teaching" one class. Go Scott!!

While I agree with your comment Jeff are you really unaware that native American is the accepted term now? I think this is taught in preschool. I am by no means the PC police, but that one is setting up the all non liberals are racists argument.

No, I certainly understand the PC term. The Professor referred to herself as a Cherokee Indian. That is what I was referring to. If I offended anyone through the use of the term, not the intent and apologies. However, I would have to assume that anyone offended by that had to be 100 times more offended by the Professor pretending to be one....

Glad to see all you liberals supporting a woman who can't tell the truth. Who will vote with her party 99.9% of the time. How is that going to HELP?

Usual, under-handed snide derision of "Harvard Professor" and blowing things out of proportion about inconsequential matters goes hand in hand with the customary tradition of smearing the opponent with lots of excrement and hoping some will stick...
People, don't you understand that using personal insults and inuendos (shrill voice, slander, platitudes - WITHOUT concrete examples) is NOT a substitute for substance ? It just drags down the civil debate to carnival barkers' level. If you are comfortable with that - by all means, but don't try to prove that this is normal, PLEASE..

Since when is lying about being a minority to gain an advantage inconsequential? I'm sure actual Native Americans would find it quite important & relevant.

Mr. Baron - while most people will not have a problem with her claim (which is more than likely truthful), the "scandal in the tea-pot" is a common ploy by those that cannot provide valid arguments against her record and career. So lt's just throw a bucket of gargage at her and see what sticks. And keep persisting, just like that birther lunatic Orly Taitz. It's only a few steps away from slugging somebody in the face as means of winning. If you want to talk about hypocrisy - start with Scott Brown enjoying benefits of "Romney/Obamacare" vis-a-vis health insurance for his daughter (s?)...

Lying is always a big deal. Based on what we keep learning, it seems this is what Professor Warren is best at. Making excuses for her or trying to change the subject won't change that! Go Scott -- the only real candidate in this race.

Mr. Baron, at the end of the day everybody deserves what they wish for AND get. Keep fooling yourself. Just remember - if you play with those that sling garbage, eventually you'll end up smelling like garbage too...

Agreed. That's why I'm sticking with Scott and not the lying Professor. Wouldn't want to smell like her garbage (to use your terms)...
