Year-Round Drug Drop-Off Now at Public Safety Building
There's a new green bin in the lobby of Wayland's Public Safety Building.
No need to let those expired or unwanted medications languish on your medicine cabinet shelves until the next semiannual National Drug Take-Back Day.
A newly installed bin at the Wayland Public Safety Building is now available year-round as a safe and responsible option for disposing of everything from over-the-counter medicines to prescription narcotics to veteranary drugs.
Although the MedReturn bin has been in place only a few days -- and Wayland just took part in a drug take-back day on April 28 -- Wayland Police Chief Bob Irving said individuals have already made use of the option.

He explained that the medications deposited in the bin will be stored by the Wayland Police Department until the next National Drug Take-Back Day when police will dispose of the medicines.
The bins are for:

- Prescription medications - pills, ointments, patches, etc.
- Over-the-counter drugs
- Vitamins
- Samples
- Pet medications
DO NOT deposit:
- Syringes/sharps
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Thermometers
- Aerosol cans
- Inhalers
- Medications from clinics/businesses
