Finally, it might be time to dust off your snow shovels and spark up the snowblower.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from late Wednesday night through thursday evening.

Residents in Middlesex County, including Wayland, can expect a combination of snow and ice. Two to 4 inches of snow has been predicted, along with a trace of ice.

Conditions will begin to deteriorate late Wednesday night into Thursday, making travel difficult for the morning commute.

Winds are expected from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts to 25 mph. Visibility will be 1/4 of a mile or less at times.
 
A winter storm watch is issued for the potential of accumulating snow of 6 or more inches in a 12 hour period, or 8 or more inches in a 24 hour period.

Anyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans should winter weather develop.
