(UPDATE 12 p.m., Sept. 2) Storm Updates

Here are some resources in case you're dealing with power outages, cancellations and more in Wayland.

Many may feel they dodged a bullet with Irene's high winds and heavy rains, but there are still plenty out there with power outages, home/building damage and more.

We'll have this article up on the front page all day today to bring you news of cancellations, road closings, updates about power outages and more. And we can't do that without your help. Sept. 2, 12 p.m.

  • Road conditions: White Road and Mayflower Road are OPEN.
  • Road conditions: Jericho Road remains CLOSED to everyone except residents and emergency workers.
  • Power outages: A Patch reader reports power is still out at to parts of Woodridge Road, Black Oak and Brook Trail Road. NSTAR is estimating everyone will have power in Wayland by 10 p.m.

Sept. 1, 6 p.m.

  • Power outages: The 4 p.m. NSTAR report had Wayland down to just 355 customers without power. The end is in sight.

Sept. 1, 4:40 p.m.

  • Power outages: Power has been restored to Wayland High School.

Sept. 1, 4:30 p.m.

  • Road conditions: All roads are now open EXCEPT Jericho Road at 9 (residents have access); Mayflower Lane (all residents have access); White Road closed at one end, though it should be open shortly (all residents have access).
  • Power outages: NSTAR has told Wayland Police that an additional 100 customers now have power, bringing the total without power down to 517.

Sept. 1, 1:30 p.m.

  • Power outages: NSTAR reports that as of noon, 11 percent of Wayland customers were without power. That's 617 customers.

Sept. 1, 12 p.m.

  • Road conditions: Happy Hollow Road and Edgewood Road are now OPEN.
  • Road conditions: DPW is finishing tree removal on Glezen Lane and that road will open shortly.
  • Road conditions: White Road is CLOSED (waiting for cable and telephone to replace wires); Jericho Road at 9 is CLOSED; Mayflower Road is CLOSED.
  • Road conditions: The traffic light at routes 20 and 27 is off generator power and working on regular power.
  • Power outages: The NSTAR repairs on White Road returned power to much of north Wayland.
  • Well-being checks: Wayland Police visited individuals on a list provided by the Council on Aging and found everyone to be OK.
  • Power outages: Wayland High School remains without power.

Sept. 1, 8:45 a.m.

  • Road conditions: The following roads are now OPEN: Rice Road, Pequot Road, Dudley Road, Shaw Drive.
  • Road conditions: The following roads remain CLOSED: White Road (NSTAR crews currently on scene working this location); Glezen Lane at 90 (NSTAR has cleared the line, DPW on the way to remove the tree debris), Mayflower, Edgewood Road, Jericho Road at 9, Happy Hollow Road closed at Rice Spring Road.
  • Power outages: "NSTAR work at White Road could restore power to many homes once complete," according to Wayland Police.
  • Power outages: Happy Hollow has power, but Wayland High School does not.
  • Power outages: NSTAR's 4 a.m. report listed 22.5 percent of Wayland (1,216 customers) still without power.

Aug. 31, 5 p.m.

  • According to its 4 p.m. report, NSTAR now has more customers in Wayland without power than it did at noon. Nearly 27 percent of Wayland customers were without power as of 4 p.m., up from 24.5 percent at noon. The estimate to have the entire town restored to power, however, remains 10 p.m. on Friday.

Aug. 31, 12:30 p.m.

  • Stonebridge Road: Stonebridge Road is OPEN in both directions; Rice Road is OPEN (NSTAR crews on the scene).
  • Closed roads: Shaw Road is closed at 21 due to a large tree limb falling onto wires this morning and blocking the road.
    Access 21 Shaw Drive from Old Connecticut Path and the rest of Shaw Drive through Fox Meadow Lane.
  • Power outages: NSTAR crews are working in town. Currently, on Route 30.

Aug. 31, 9:10 a.m.

  • NSTAR reports the number in Wayland without power is shrinking. Down to 21 percent or 1,145 households.

Aug. 31, 8:55 a.m.

  • Road conditions: Woodridge Road is OPEN in both directions. Fuller Road is OPEN.
  • Road conditions: "Significant damage needs to be repaired on Rice Road and on White Road, these jobs could take some time and involve multiple utilities," according to Police Cheif Robert Irving.
  • Road closures: Stonebridge between Anthony and Highgate; Rice Road at 209-227; Pequot Road at 43; Happy Hollow Road between Route 27 and Rice Spring Lane; Edgewood Road at 55;  Dudley Road between the intersections of Bayfield and Mayflower Path; White Road at Route 20; Jericho Lane at 9; Glezen Lane at 90; River Rd at Water Row.
  • Power outages: Transformer work remains to be done on Woodridge Road.

Aug. 31, 8:20 a.m.

  • Power outages: NSTAR reports that as of 4 a.m., 27 percent of its Wayland customers (1,479 households) remain without power. The estimate for returning power to the entire town is by 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2.

Aug. 30, 3:20 p.m.

  • Road conditions: Old Connecticut Path at West Plain Street is OPEN in both directions; Shawmut Avenue is OPEN; East Plain Street is OPEN.
  • Road conditions: At least four telephone poles must be replaced on Woodridge Road; however, there is now access to Black Oak.
  • Cell phone charging: Residents can charge their cell phones at the Public Safety Building. 

Aug. 30, 2 p.m.

  • Road conditions: The telephone pole has been replaced at Old Connecticut Path and West Plain Street. As soon as the tree is removed, the road will be reopened (Wayland Police estimate it will reopen within the hour).
  • Road conditions: East Plain Street is OPEN.
  • Road conditions: NSTAR has arrived at Woodridge Road with new telephone poles.
  • Road conditions: Trees are currently being removed from Shawmut Avenue.

Aug. 30, 11 a.m.

  • Road closed: Fuller Road at No. 30; Edgewood Road at No. 52;
    East Plain Street due to a downed wire. Detours have been made available wherever possible.
  • DPW: Crews are standing by to reopen streets as soon as wires are removed and it is safe to do so.
  • Power outages: Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving said NSTAR is aware of the many outages in town and is working to restore power as quickly as possible.

Aug. 30, 10:45 a.m.

  • Power outages: NSTAR has posted an update regarding power outages and estimated times it will be restored. As of 10 a.m., NSTAR reported that 1,548 of it's 5,399 Wayland customers, or 29 percent remain without power. The estimated restoration time is by 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3. 
  • Road conditions: Wayland Patch reader John O'Neill reports that Shawmut Avenue is still closed due to a tree blocking the whole street near 12 Shawmut and another tree blocking half the street near 21 Shawmut.

Aug. 30, 9:30 a.m.

  • Open: The Wayland Public Library is open today.

Aug. 30, 9 a.m.

  • Road conditions: Bow Road and Concord Road are OPEN in both directions.
  • Roads closed: Stonebridge Road between Anthony Road and Highgate; Pequot Road at No. 43; Happy Hollow Road from Rte. 27 to Rice Spring Road; Old Connecticut Path at West Plain Street (NSTAR crews on the scene); River Road at Water Row is closed by Sudbury Police; Rice Road from Nos. 209-227 (No access through Rice Road); Dudley Road; Woodridge Road between No. 98 and 113 (No Access to Black Oak); White Road at Rte. 20; Glezen Lane (west) at No. 90.
  • Power outages: According to Wayland Police, NSTAR crews are working at Old Connecticut Path and West Plain Street. "Much of Cochituate is out of power due to this location."
  • Power outages: NSTAR has told police it may still be several days before all power is restored.
  • Power outages (according to Patch Facebook page, shout stream and email): Old Connecticut Path at Old Farm Road; Dudley Pond area. No doubt many more. Let us know your status in the comments section.

3:15 p.m.

  • Road conditions: Route 20 now open in both directions at Russell's.
  • Road conditions: NSTAR has a crew at Old Connecticut Path and West Plain Street; however, "this is a large job that could take some time to complete." Detours are marked.
  • Road conditions: Detours improved for Concord Road.
  • Road conditions: Bow Road blocked at Old Sudbury Road to stop traffic that cannot get to Concord Road. Bow Road is blocked by trees and wires.
  • Power outages: Improvements are coming, but many in the town remain without power. The shout stream on the Wayland Patch homepage features several notes about power as does the Wayland Patch page on Facebook. Keep the updates coming.

1:30 p.m.

  • Road closures: Sherman's Bridge at the Sudbury line is OPEN.
  • Road closures: River Road is closed at Water Row as per a request from Sudbury Police.
  • Power outages: Patch readers report Pine Brook Road, Forest Hill Road and Old Stonebridge Road remain without power.

12:30 p.m. (12:15 update from Wayland Police) -

  • Traffic lights: Lights at 126 and 20 are working on generator power.
  • Road closures: Pelham Island Road is open to two lanes of traffic.
  • Road closures: Route 20 at Russell's Garden Center down to one lane as crews clear a tree from a house.
  • Road closures: Old Connecticut Path at West Plain Street; Rice Road; Woodridge Road; Glezen Lane (east).
  • Road closures: Police are marking detours where possible to help motorists.
  • Live wires warning: Residents are advised not to assume down power lines are not live. Treat every wire as a live wire and keep a safe distance. Do not cross yellow caution tape.
  • Power outages: Police received the following from NSTAR: "NSTAR has a crew working in Wayland on the Natick line. Requires poles to be set and circuit restored. This would be Rte. 30 and Woodridge. Crews are restoring circuit in Sherborn, Framingham and road closures with wires down in Acton and Maynard. Sudbury has 25 specific locations for restoration of service. This could be lights out, wires down, etc. MetroWest over 600 specific locations for restoration of service."

12 p.m.

  • Traffic light operational at Routes 20 and 27 intersection.
  • Lots of power outages still around town. Please add your specific neighborhoods in the comments section below.

As of 10 a.m. (Update from Wayland Police Chief Robert Irving)

  • Town email server back up.
  • Closed: Old Connecticut Path at W. Plain Street. 
  • Closed: Concord Road at Plain Street.
  • Closed: Rice Road one-quarter mile from Old Connecticut Path.
  • Closed: Stonebridge Road near Anthony Road (Detour marked).
  • Closed: Bow Road - Trees and wires down; no through traffic.
  • Closed: Glezen Lane at No. 90. (east)
  • Obstructed roads: Black Oak, Mayflower Path, Happy Hollow Road near Rice Spring, Dudley Road.
  • Power outages: According to Patch Facebook users: Rice Road, Charena Farms, Damon Farms.
  • Power outages: According to Wayland PD, "Many power outages throughout town. There can be no accurate estimate on when power will return as NSTAR is backed up and cannot give estimates. As a general rule the larger problems affecting major roadways will be fixed first. Smaller roads and individual houses can expect power to be out longer, possibly days."
  • Call NSTAR, not dispatch, to report power outages: 800-592-2000.
  • Structural concerns: Wayland building inspector is inspecting three homes for damage from fallen trees.
  • Traffic lights: All are working EXCEPT those at Route 20 and 126. Police officers are directing traffic at those intersections. Electrical engineers are on the scene.

As of 9:30 a.m.

  • Road closures/blockages according to Wayland Police: Old Connecticut Path at W. Plain Street; Sherman's Bridge at Sudbury line; Rice Road; Happy Hollow; 90 Glezen Lane; Bow Road; Stonebridge Road; Concord Rd at Plain Road; Dudley Road; Black Oak; Bow Road; and Mayflower Path.
  • Power outages: Wayland Patch Facebook users report School Street and Boston Post Road east of town center.

As of 8:20 a.m.:

  • Power: NStar Tweeted this morning that it is working on repairs but that some customers without power may not get it back for a few days. 
  • MBTA/MBCR: Riverside station is closed for parking and commuters are advised to park at another station, like Woodland. Passengers can be dropped off and those going outbound will be bused from Riverside to Woodland Station. The Fitchburg commuter rail line is running on time.
  • The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has a list of general road closures. In Framingham, Route 9 westbound at Country Club Lane has a power line down just before the Mass Pike off ramp. One lane is open.
  • Logan Airport has cancellations for both inbound and outbound flights. Check with your airline before you leave for the airport.
  • The Acela may also be facing delays. You can check to see your train's status on Amtrak's website.
