Wayland to Receive Additional State Aid for FY2012
The Town of Wayland is set to receive about $55,000 in additional local aid.
State revenue receipts were up 9 percent in September, which means Wayland is among the cities and towns who will see additional state aid.
Sen. Richard Ross' (R-Wrentham) office announced this afternoon that the Town of Wayland will receive an additional $55,282 in local aid.
“I am so pleased that I was given the opportunity to help return additional local aid to our cash-strapped cities and towns,” said Senator Ross. “I thank my colleagues for their bipartisan collegiality in support of this important amendment.”
The state budget passed this summer saw $65 million in cuts to Massachusetts cities and towns.
According to the announcement from Ross' office, the additional local aid "stems from a Senate and House Republican Caucus amendment to the Fiscal Year 2012 Budget which required unspent state funds to be returned to the cities and towns in order to return them to level-funding."
