Wayland Selectmen Set Date for State of the Town Meeting
Dates for the State of the Town meeting as well as the next selectmen's office hours were established at Monday's Board of Selectmen meeting.
Wayland’s Board of Selectmen Monday night made decisions about the upcoming State of the Town meeting and planned its next office hours.
The State of the Town meeting will take place Wednesday, Oct. 19, with the format being a roundtable-style ”discussion on priorities for capital projects in town.”
“I think what made last year’s discussion successful was the ability of people to be heard and express their views in a roundtable format,” Board of Selectmen Chair Tom Fay said.
In addition, selectmen want to allow time at the meeting for a NIMBY (not in my backyard) discussion in light of several possible projects in town, such as proposed athletic fields and a new Department of Public Works garage.
“It might get spirited, but there’s nothing wrong with that,” selectmen Joe Nolan said. “[It would be] a public discussion about how we can balance the needs of the town with the needs of that neighborhood.”
Selectmen’s office hours
Fay and John Bladon plan to hold selectmen’s office hours at Mel’s Commonwealth Café on Sept. 17 from 8 a.m.-9 a.m.
