Wayland Resident, Yale Graduate Remembered Online

Marina Keegan, 22, was killed Saturday afternoon in a car crash in Dennis, Mass.

News of Marina Keegan's death traveled quickly back to Yale University, her alma mater from which she graduated just a week ago.

Keegan, 22, was killed in on Route 6 in Dennis, Mass.

Within hours of Keegan's name being released, the Yale Daily News, the student newspaper for which Keegan wrote during her undergraduate career, had published an announcement about her death as well as a look back at a column she wrote for the final edition of the paper published before the 2012 commencement exercises.

In that column, Keegan wrote of her desire to find in life the "opposite of loneliness."

"It’s not quite love and it’s not quite community," she wrote. "It’s just this feeling that there are people, an abundance of people, who are in this together. Who are on your team."

In the comments section below the column, people have begun to post thoughts and condolences, including "RIP, Marina. I always enjoyed reading your pieces in the YDN," by a user named yalien.

And "Rest in Peace, Marina. My deepest condolences to her family and friends," from a user named jm252.

People have also taken to Twitter to express their sadness and condolences. Anthony Rek LaCounte tweeted, "A beautiful swan gave us her song. And it was glorious. Goodbye, Marina Keegan."

Another Twitter user, Andrew Johnson, wrote, "A beautiful life, a beautiful person. Marina Keegan, you will be missed."

According to Keegan's Facebook page, at Yale she studied English with a concentration in writing.
