This time around, the cards are simply available for collecting, but there isn't a contest attached to collecting them all as there was when the cards were last offered in 2010. Bowles said that while officers enjoy having the cards and distributing them to children, making a contest out of it was just too much for the officers to handle along with their everyday tasks.

Each school will determine how to distribute the cards, Bowles said. Kids are welcome to pick them up at the Joint Communications Center at the The Public Safety Building or to ask officers -- who are not otherwise engaged in a police activity -- for them as they see them around town.
