Wayland PD Makes Arrest in March Home Burglary

Wayland Police have arrested a 40-year-old Boston subcontractor on charges he stole a large amount of jewelry and other items from a Wayland Hills Road home on March 18.

Det. Sgt. Jamie Berger said Giacomo Cincotti of 115 Tudor Street #9 in South Boston, was arrested April 9 after an interview during which Cincotti confessed to the burglary.

According to police, Cincotti was working as a subcontractor at the Wayland Hills Road home when the homeowners went out of town for the weekend. Police say Cincotti entered the home at night through an unlocked door and proceeded to steal jewelry and other items. The homeowners reported the items missing when they returned home.

Pawn sheets from shops in Somerville and Boston led police to Cincotti, a former Wayland resident who is known to police, Berger said.

Berger said Wayland Det. Ruth Backman discovered jewelry items on the pawn sheets that appeared similar to items reported stolen. The homeowner then helped identify "numerous" items from the pawnshops.

Cincotti has been charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime and larceny over $250. He will be arraigned at Framingham District Court today.
