The arraignment of Nathaniel Fujita, 18, is set for Tuesday.
UPDATE (July 5, 10:25 a.m.)—The man arrested in connection to Lauren Astley's murder, Nathaniel Fujita was a classmate of Astley's at Wayland High School.
While no official relationship between Fujita and Astley has been announced, the 2011 commencement program from the WHS graduation ceremony lists both as members of the class of 2011. In addition, they are also friends on Facebook.
Eighteen-year-old Nathaniel Fujita of Wayland was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday morning, following the discovery Monday of the body of Lauren Astley, 18.
His arrest follows Monday's discovery of Wayland resident Astley in a marshy area off Route 27. Astley was last seen leaving her job at the Natick Collection Sunday night, officials said.
Fujita was charged with murder, and is expected to be arraigned in Framingham District Court later this morning, according to a press release from the state District Attorney’s Office.
Astley’s body, discovered Monday morning by a bicyclist, was found with a neck wound, the release said. Her death was later declared a homicide.
The murder is being investigated by the Wayland Police and the State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
