Wayland Ice Rinks Reopen with Weekend Evening Hours
The perk of the frigid weather? Reopened ice rinks in Wayland.
Several days of sub-freezing temperatures mean Wayland's two ice rinks can reopen.
The rinks, located at Cochituate Field and the soccer field at Wayland Town Building, are available for the public to use, free of charge.
The rinks operate on a carry-in, carry-out basis.
Through the week, the rinks are open from dawn to dusk. This weekend, Jan. 25 and 26, the lights will be on at Cochituate Field to allow skating until 8:30 p.m.
Have you visited the rinks? What do you think?

Hi Brooklyn - any idea if they plan to smooth out the rinks with a thin flooding at all? I had my kids on the Cochituate one yesterday (yes, in 10-degree weather!), and the ice was in terrible shape. I think a thin flooding would make a world of difference, though, and with these temps it would definitely refreeze overnight.

That's a great idea, Amy. We were thinking the same thing...

Good morning, Amy and JH2433. I'm checking on your question and will let you know when I hear something. Until then, be careful on the bumpy ice :)

Just got word that DPW has added water to smooth the rinks. Break out the skates and enjoy!
