On Saturday, July 16, hundreds came to First Parish Unitarian Universalist and Trinitarian Congregational Church, across the street from one another in Wayland, for a memorial service dedicated to Lauren Astley.

Media was asked to remain off church grounds in order to protect the privacy of the attendees. Still, Patch photographer John Keklak captured these images of this community event.

Astley's body was found on July 4 in a marshy area of Wayland, near the Sudbury border. Her ex-boyfriend, Nathaniel Fujita, has been charged with her murder.
