Power Outages: Where Are They in Wayland?

The first power outages are starting to come in. We'll keep track of what we know in the article below.

The first power outages in Wayland started happening at about 10:30 a.m. Monday and the Public Safety Building was among the first to go.

The Public Safety Building can operate on generator power, but most Wayland residents aren't so lucky.

According to posts on the Wayland Patch Facebook page, the following areas are without power (UPDATED AT 4:50 P.M.).

*** Remember, we're doing our best to keep this list updated, but the comprehensive coverage is in our Hurricane Sandy Info Center, where we're keeping a map of outages and town resources. ***

- Concord Road (near the library)

- Sage Hill Road

- Alpine Road (at Sherman's Bridge)

- Barney Hill Road

- Pine Brook Road

Beth, can you tell if many of your neighbors also are out of power, or how far the outage goes?

According to NSTAR website, 14% of Wayland customers already wihtout power. That's the second highest of their coverage area. Once again we get the raw deal. It's TIME people to thin out the trees.

TB: The map really is incredible. Wayland is surrounded by towns where less than 1 percent of the Nstar customers are without power. Wayland is now up to 39 percent.

Brookly, yes the NSTAR map is quite helpful and its refresh rate is impressive. Sadly, Wayland's % is quite high, in fact the highest as of this moment in all of Massachusetts. In this case there may be 1 or 2 events causing a large number of outages, but historically our trees cause most of the outages. Sadly there is a large faction in town that insists the trees cannot be touched.

There is a tree across some power lines on Sunset Road at Main Street. Not sure if neighbors in that area are without power? We lost it on Mathews at noon, but it has since returned.

Very grateful for NSTAR's for the fixes to get the power back up for that earlier large outage. Thank you.

We lost power at 10:30 this morning at it came back on after about 3 hours. Then at about 4:00 PM we heard an explosion outside ( near Alpine and Sherman Bridge) and lost power. Sounded like a transformer. I hope this gets fixed before tomorrow.
