Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

POLL: Where's the Best Place to Exercise in Wayland?

Where do you get your workouts in?

We've been doing our "Best of Patch Readers' Choice" polls for several weeks now. We've looked at the best sandwich, best preschool/day-care, best kids menu and more.

And this week we turn our eyes to the Wayland fitness scene. We want to know: Where is the best place to exercise in Wayland?

Here's how it works. Vote in the poll below. Add comments supporting your decision and influencing other Wayland residents to see that you're right, after all. Poll votes, comments and reviews of the businesses on their Directory listings (they're linked below) are all important.

Because this poll isn't scientific, it isn't the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor (that's me, Brooklyn Lowery), based on poll results, comments on this story and reviews. Please vote only once per survey.

And now, the nominees, along with links to their Directory pages:

My vote is outside! Miles & miles of trails, loads of sidewalks, 2 golf courses, playgrounds, the beach....these are the best that Wayland has to offer!

Get in Shape for Women - hands down! I have had experience with two of its competitors. What differentiates GISFW are three things: 1.Top of the line nutrition consultation on an ongoing basis with absolute accountability; 2.One- on- one attention with trainers who know how to help you "up your game" and clearly get results; 3. Motivation sustained through goal setting and team spirit/comraderie developed in a very small group setting.

I have some free coupons for a visit to one-to-one bodyscapes. So if you'd like to try it send me a message. dltesta223@gmail.com One of the thibgs that I love about it is that I have learned many exercises that I can do one my own so I go once a week and follow-up on my own with minimal equipment needed. I do agree that outside works great to now that the weather is good.

I stand up straighter. I walk with a bounce in my step. I look better in clothes. I don't huff and puff when going up stairs. I am more flexable. I no longer take blood pressure medication. I have met some of the most fantastic women in the state. All this in just 3 hours a week. GISFW is with out a doubt the best place to exercise!!!

Training at Deb Goldman’s Pilates Works is unusual. To begin with, there is Deb herself: With over 30 years of experience as a trainer, she is a grown up who had her own weight problems in the past. As the owner and sole trainer at Pilates Works she is truly a personal trainer – not just a one-on-one trainer. She works alone with you and designs an exercise program specifically for your needs. You will never show up at her studio and find that you have been assigned a new trainer. Then there is her studio. Pilates Works is not an impersonal gym or a small shop in a strip mall. Deb’s studio is located in her home. The view is idyllic, the atmosphere tranquil – no pounding hip hop or clattering machines in the background. I also suspect that Deb might be a clean freak – the studio and its equipment are immaculate. Don’t you hate getting on a piece of equipment that’s covered in sweat? Finally there is her equipment. She has the most up-to-date strength building machines, cardio workout equipment, and the only Power Plate in the area. All in all, I can’t imagine a better place to exercise – in Wayland or anywhere else.

Agree with you John, also nice to have some private space while you're really exerting yourself - the nutrition work and accountability is great - the trainers are focused on what's best just for you - best place ever.

Definitely, Fitness Together. Their trainers are the best, most knowledgeable ones out there. The workouts are not "cookie cutter" - they are tailored to each individual based on their goals, and just challenging enough to be fun and interesting without being impossible. I have much greater strength, stamina and balance since I started working out with FT, and would recommend them to anybody.

Fitness Together is my choice. My trainer listens and has continued to tailor my sessions to match my goals, after at least 3 years or working with him. At 57, I can run circles around just about everyone. I am strong, healthy, and happy.

Get in Shape for Women Rocks! I have been going there for a year now. I am down 4 dress sizes! They trainers are super supportive. The nutrition plan is amazing. They take time to go over it and make it work even for those of us who are super picky eaters. I am pumped up and motivated to go work out! Get in Shape for Women really cares. Its great to have such a supportive staff helping you each step of the way! I never thought I would be looking this fit in just a year. I can't praise Get in Shape for Women enough! -Mandi Fedele

My vote is for GISFW! When you walk through the door you realize instantly that it's a special place. While I'm a bit biased, my husband Bob works there, I can tell you he loves what he does because he's able to really help his clients transform themselves. He is always excited to get into the studio and see his ladies!!!! I help with the back end of the business and hear all the transformation stories and have all the statistics. There is no other gym, training studio or weight-loss program on the market that gets you results and cares about you the way the GISFW studio (next to Dunkins on Rt. 27) does!! Check them out, you won't be sorry!

Get in Shape for Women is an AMAZING place! I had no idea what I was in for when I stepped in the door back in January. I am down about 12 lbs, and have more energy than I can ever remember. I have new friends who inspire me everyday and are on this journey with me. Thanks to Bob, Brian and everyone at GISFW!

Get In Shape For Women is an incredibly supportive place to make, meet and exceed your fitness goals. Bob Kaplan's expertise with the most recent research on nutrition combined with Brian Smith's wisdom in understanding the training and nutritiional needs for every client makes GISFW the most exceptional choice for exercise in Wayland. I have been a member in Wayland since they opened their doors in 2010. I recently went for a physical and found out my cholesterol is down by 45 points. In addition, I have lost and kept off almost 25 lbs. In addition to great ownership, management and training GISFW has the kindest and most supportive women. The atmosphere is positive and fun!

GISFW is the best. Brian Smith, manager and former lead trainer is focused and caring. Brian helps clients set realistic goals, makes it easy to stay on track while increasing strength and confidence. Bob Kaplan, owner, educates members on the science of good nutrition. Bob is passionate about helping members make healthy lifestyle changes. Just three hours a week at GISFW, aren't you worth it?

I'm sure there are many good choices out there, but I prefer Get in Shape for Women. All the advantages of personal training, at a more affordable price and with the comraderie of a group of women who have similar aspirations around weight and health. As a very busy professional working mother, I find it difficult to carve out time to get to know people in town - here's a way to not only do something good for your body, but for your social soul, too! We all are supporting each other - celebrating the weight loss or bemoaning that one new pound that snuck in while on vacation. In a weird way, it's akin to a 19c. quilting bee or knitting circle: a chance to check in with other people as we whir through life. Weights are weights, intervals are intervals - but this special setting of doing it alongside 3 other women - from different age groups, in different life stages, all across town -- on a regular basis is special to GISFW. Hats off to Brian and Bob for building an environment where we all feel supported, while being challenged and pushed beyond our normal comfort zone - secure in the knowledge that professionals are watching out for us to make sure we're not lifting that 15-lber in a way we'll rue for the rest of our lives!

The concept is great! An appointment each day to get and stay in shape, plus spending time with incredible women who share the same goals. All my clothes fit better and I feel terrific. I look forward to my workouts at GISFW, it is the perfect way to start the day. Bob, Brian, Leah and Jonathan have created a positive and happy environment. I am so happy I joined GISFW 8 months ago!

GISFW without a doubt! Accountability is key for me, and this place makes you ACCOUNTABLE! It's by appointment, and if you can't make it, you have to call...that's the walk of shame for me! And if you don't come, they call YOU! That's why I never miss my appointments. Combine that with top notch nutritional counseling, extremely supportive staff, and an absolutely wonderful group of woman who I am so glad to have met and ENJOY spending my 4 hours a week with. I have been going for just over a year now. I have more energy, feel better about myself and the way I look, and best of all, dropped some inches! Bob Kaplan and Brian Smith have done a great job with this studio. I am very grateful to them both!

Get In Shape for Women is the best place I've ever joined and provides a unique approach of accountability, strength training, cardio, and nutrition. Bob Kaplan and Brian Smith are both amazing - they know each member and provide just what each of us need to help us reach our goals. Sometimes this is support, sometimes its extra info or ideas on meal planning, sometimes its a virtual kick in the butt :-)
