Photo Video Store Seized for Failure to Pay Taxes

The seizure means the store is the property of the Commonwealth.

Two bright orange signs on the windows of Wayland's Photo Video Store inform customers that the shop has been "Seized."

According to the signs, which appear to have been posted at the direction of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, the shop has been "seized for nonpayment of taxes and is now in the possession of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts."

The signs warn that anyone tampering with the property "will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law."

According to the website for the Photo Video Store, the shop has been in Wayland for more than 25 years. It handles everything from photo restoration and custom framing to camera equipment and accessories.

Patch will follow up on the seizure, including asking such questions as what will happen to customer property currently at the store.

Editor's Note: The Massachusetts Department of Revenue considers this a civil case, not criminal, at this time. The headline, therefore, has been changed from the original.
