Ceremony Recognizes New Positions for Firefighters
Five Wayland firefighters were sworn in during a promotion ceremony at the Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night.
Wayland officially recognized new fire chief Vincent Smith during a swearing in ceremony at the Board of Selectmen's meeting Monday night.
The departure of and the internal promotion of Smith created a domino effect within the department that led to the promotion of an additional three firefighters and allowed for the hiring of one new paramedic.
Monday night, the Large Hearing of the Town Building spilled over with friends, family and colleagues, including fire chiefs from neighboring towns and Massachusetts State Fire Marshall Stephen Coan.
