Carriage House at Lee's Farm Construction Ahead of Schedule

The Carriage House at Lee's Farm housing development is well underway on Route 20 in Wayland. An opening date is estimated for late this year.

The Lee's Farm farm stand has seen more action lately than it has in years as construction got underway late last year on Carriage House at Lee's Farm.

The site at 134 Boston Post Road (across from Prime131) will soon be home to a 62-room, assisted living and memory care facility.

"It is ahead of schedule due to the very good weather lately," said Gerry Gallin, corporate marketing liaison with Northbridge Companies, the site developer. "I'm surprised it's going so quickly."

Gallin said the facility's opening was originally scheduled for February 2014, but construction is about two months ahead of schedule. The new estimated opening is late December 2013.

Carriage House at Lee's Farm will feature 32 rental apartments dedicated to independent and assisted living, Gallins explained. The facility will feature amenities such as a restaurant, pub, beauty salon, activities room, theater, art center, computerized brain gym, exercise classes and housecleaning, Galin said. Staff nurses and personal care assistance will be available as well. Residents can customize their living experience based on what they need.

The remaining 30 rental apartments will be dedicated memory care units.

Perhaps the most obvious element on the site at this point is the farm stand that remains in the midst of the construction.

Northbridge Companies will be completing some renovations to the farm stand as part of its development agreement. In particular, a new roof and some additional improvements will be made.

Gallin said that the renovations to the farm stand will be completed prior to the first residents moving into Carriage House, as a condition of occupancy.

A local neighborhood group has expressed interest in acquiring the farm stand and reopening it as a self-supporting farm stand and cafe.

Information about moving into a unit at Carriage House at Lee's Farm will be posted on the construction fencing at the site. Additionally, Gallin is hosting a cocktail party and introduction to living at Lee's Farm session at the Coach Grill on Tuesday, May 21 at 5 p.m.

Anyone interested in attending the info session is asked to RSVP to Gallin at 508-358-2800.
