Traffic slows as it passes the church to loook at the crowd gathered on the First Parish lawn and the line of photographers and reporters gathered on the sidewalk across the street. The media stands as a testament to the bizarre and tragic reason for today's service.

People continue to arrive, most walking at this point, into the lawn at First Parish.

10:45 a.m. - Both First Parish and Trinitarian Congregational are full. Guests still arriving are being directed to the side lawn of First Parish where speakers are broadcasting music now, but will broadcast the service when it begins.

Coral bows dot the various lamp posts, road blocks, street signs, doors and trees here in the center of Wayland and throughout town as people are seeking tangible ways to show their support.

School Committee members, town officials, friends, one-time co-workers of Malcolm Astley, Lauren's father, and others have made the trip to Wayland for this memorial service.
