Register for Hazardous Waste Disposal Day on Oct. 27
The Wayland Board of Health is registering Wayland residents for its next Household Hazardous Waste collection day to be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012. The collection location will be at 195 Main Street on Route 27 at the parking lot of the Highway Department garage at the Wayland Middle School.
Residents interested in disposing of household hazardous waste must complete a registration form on which they may choose a half-hour slot between 9 a.m. and noon on Oct. 27. The registration slots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Forms are available in the Board of Health office, Wayland Town Building lobby and Council on Aging all at the Town Building; the Wayland Public Library; the Wayland Transfer Station & Recycling Center; and on-line: www.wayland.ma.us/boh.
Completed forms must be submitted to the Board of Health office by Friday, Oct. 26 before noon.
Additional information regarding the location of the collection and the types of household hazardous waste that will or will not be collected is also listed on the registration form. In its announcement, the Board cited the need to minimize the generation of household hazardous waste by encouraging homeowners to buy only the quantities of paint, solvents, cleaners, pool supplies, pesticides and other hazardous materials that are needed, to utilize non-hazardous materials (if possible) instead of hazardous materials, to share leftover supplies with neighbors or others who might use them, and to donate paint and other useful materials to organizations that might be able to use them.
